PRELIMINARY EXERCISES

I have used The Grammar of Television and Film by Daniel Chandler to research and develop my own knowledge on different shot type in order to practice my own. The different shots that I have researched are the common conventions that televisions and film use, they are often referred to as the 'grammar' of these audiovisual media. The photos that I have taken I consider to be very important shot types to be familiar with since they are key to conveying meaning.

Before being able to make my own short film I wanted to gain as much practice and familiarity with shot types. In the clip below we have included a tracking shot and a reaction shot, which is an important shot to create suspense and tension. When we create our short film we have a very small duration to provoke this meaning, so mastering the shots to convey this meaning is very important.
